چکیده
This paper presents cyclic behaviour of bolted and hybrid–combined bonded fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) beam-to-column joints between I-shaped members using steel FRP cleats. Five full-scale tests are carried out to study moment-rotation behaviour, response, failure patterns. The test parameters include position cleat (flange or combined web flange), fastening method (bolting hybrid–combining bolting bonding) material (steel FRP). First two had hybrid with flange double angles. Next the same joint detailing but no Last used only Three modes were observed: shear-out beam’s zone, adhesive debonding delamination cracking. Cyclic performance was assessed by hysteresis curves accumulated dissipated energy. Hybrid showed best overall energy about 75% higher than joints. Bolted cleats exhibited worst performance. Flange cleated similar

Seismic Upgrade of Beam-Column Joints with FRP Reinforcement
Many opportunities are becoming available for using composite materials to strengthen/upgrade existing reinforced concrete (RC) structures. This paper focuses on a new technique for the seismic upgrade of RC beam-column connections in gravity load-designed (GLD) frames by the application (combined or not) of FRP rods and laminates. The FRP rods provide flexural strengthening, whereas the lay-up...
متن کاملNumerical Analysis of Cyclic Behavior of Beam-To-Column Bolted Connections in Steel Frames
This article considers the seismic behavior of beam-to-column joints in steel frames for different bolt arrangements by using of finite element modeling. As the most important beam-to-column joint type, the beam-to-column joints with end-plate is chosen for the analysis. Four different specimens have been analyzed. These models had some differences such as bolt arrangement and the presence or a...
متن کاملMoment-rotation response of nominally pinned beam-to-column joints for frames of pultruded fibre reinforced polymer
This paper presents the test results to characterise the moment-rotation response of nominally pinned joints in frames of pultruded shapes. Mimicking conventional steel construction the major-axis beamto-column joints are formed using pultruded FRP web cleats having steel bolting. There are two joint configurations with either a single row of three or two bolts per cleat leg. Testing is conduct...
متن کاملMultiobjective material architecture optimization of pultruded FRP I-beams
This paper presents the application of micro/macromechanics models and optimization techniques for the optimum design of pultruded glass fiberreinforced plastic composite I-beams with respect to material architecture: fiber orientations and fiber percentages. The beams are subjected to transverse loading, and beam deflection, buckling resistance and material failure are considered as multiple o...
متن کاملAN OPTIMIZATION PROCEDURE FOR CONCRETE BEAM-COLUMN JOINTS STRENGTHENED WITH FRP
This paper illustrates an optimization procedure of concrete beam-column joints subjected to shear that are strengthened with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP). For this aim, five different values have been considered for length, width and thickness of the FRP sheets which created 125 different models to strengthen of concrete beam-column joints. However, by using response surface methodology (RSM...
